Le point de vue d’une éducatrice canadienne sur la pratique de soins périopératoires de qualité

L'infirmière en soins périopératoires constitue un membre essentiel de l’équipe chirurgicale interdisciplinaire en salle d’opération (SOP) à travers le Canada. Les infirmières en soins périopératoires qui travaillent dans ce domaine doivent, compte tenu du risque accru d’événements indésirables en milieu périopératoire, appuyer et maintenir les principes, les lignes directrices et les normes établis en soins périopératoires dans le but de protéger les patients et d’améliorer la culture du milieu. Cet article se veut une observation d’une éducatrice traitant de quelques-uns des facteurs qui influencent actuellement la capacité à offrir des soins périopératoires de qualité au Canada. Cette dernière examine en détail les facteurs suivants : l’enseignement des soins périopératoires, la culture et la communication en salle d’opération, la certification canadienne en soins périopératoires, les normes de l’Association des infirmières et des infirmiers de salles d’opération du Canada (AIISOC) ainsi que les rôles de leader principal et administratif. De plus, elle identifie des stratégies potentielles et des domaines de recherche future afin de maintenir et de préserver une pratique de qualité.
