Résumé

The radical challenges and changes in the operating rooms are cracking the massive foundation of six decades of “the evolved art of operating room aseptic technique”. Our American colleagues fondly labelled the practices, without a scientific basis, Sacred Cows. The “Society of Sacred Cows” have grazed the hall- ways, theatres and supply rooms of Canadian operating suites in an even more protected manner. What happens to our Sacred Cows, will they all be slaughtered or temporarily put out to pasture as an integral part of our nursing practice?
