Les organismes de soins infirmiers spécialisés se définissent comme des organismes axés sur des champs de pratique précis (p. ex. la gériatrie) au sein des soins infirmiers. Les membres partagent des intérêts semblables ou une passion pour un domaine spécialisé et se réunissent pour créer un groupe ou adhèrent comme membre à un groupe spécialisé déjà établi.
Cet article décrit l’évolution des organismes de soins infirmiers spécialisés et la façon dont ils représentent des domaines spécifiques de la pratique infirmière. Les avantages de l’adhésion seront décrits à l’aide d’exemples tirés de l’Association des infirmières et infirmiers de salle d’opération du Canada (AIISOC) et du Saskatchewan periOperative Registered Nurses Group (SORNG).
