Applying Lean Principles to Improve or Efficiency

L’approche LEAN consiste en une série de philosophies et de méthodes d’exploitation qui, lorsqu’elles sont appliquées au milieu des soins de la santé, peuvent aider à créer une valeur optimale pour les patients en réduisant le gaspillage et l’attente non nécessaires. Cette approche est axée sur les besoins des clients, la participation des employés et l’amélioration continue.1Aux fins du présent article, le client désigne le patient.
En avril 2017, le programme de chirurgie pour adultes du IWK Health Centre a participé à une initiative exhaustive afin d’améliorer l’efficience du service de chirurgie en SOP pour les adultes. En se basant sur les principes LEAN, une équipe multidisciplinaire examinait soigneusement le cheminement chirurgical du patient au cours duquel plusieurs initiatives étaient identifiées. L’une des premières initiatives ayant été examinées était le temps interopératoire entre les cas en SOP. En incorporant les méthodes LEAN dans le déroulement du travail, on a constaté une amélioration du temps interopératoire.
