Abstract

Harnessing and taming the rampant high cost of an operating room inventory is the dream of most O.R. nursing administrators. Much of the operating room budget is consumed by the bottomless pit created by the need for constant replenishment of surg- ical products. Tracking their usage and ensuring rapid replenishment is a monumental task, especially if the inventory stock is scattered throughout the department in various holding areas.
