An Interview With Marlene Skucas RN, CPN(C)

Abstract

Marlene Skucas has worked in the OR since 1981 and is currently the Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) for perioperative services at East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook British Columbia. She has been an ORNAC member since 1981. She graduated from nursing from the Galt School of Nursing, in Lethbridge, AB, in 1976 and initially pursued her career in a small-town hospital in Rocky Mountain House, AB, doing general duty nursing for 2 years. Then she continued nursing on a surgical ward at Burnaby General Hospital in Burnaby, BC. In 1979 she moved to Cranbrook and continued working in various areas of the hospital casual until a general duty position on a medical ward came available and worked there until 1981 when she joined the OR team as an OR nurse. She was President of PRNABC from 2014 to 2016 and the Marketing Pillar Chair for ORNAC from 2013 to 2017. She was the Director on the ORNAC Board, representing British Columbia, from 2013 to 2017. She currently lives in Cranbrook, BC, with her husband and has 3 grown daughters.
