Specialization and certification in specialty practice

Abstract

Specialization in nursing and certification for specialty practice are rather important developments within the fabric of Canadian nursing. They will have an impact on the majority of nurses who are currently practicing. No longer are we discussing whether or not nursing should be specialized; we are caught in the debate about how we ought to respond to the mounting pressures to fonnalize specialty practice.
